Local powerlifter, Kylie Findley has delivered an exceptional performance over the weekend, competing in three events across two days and walking away with multiple records in a remarkable show of strength, resilience and determination.
The weekend began on Saturday at the Capo Anzac Day event held at Slaughterhouse Gym, where she competed in a three-lift competition in sleeves.
Taking a composed and strategic approach, she lifted conservatively throughout the event – but still achieved outstanding results.
By the end of the competition, she had secured world records in her squat, deadlift and overall total, along with a national record in the bench press.
Rather than finishing there, she pushed on to compete in a single-lift deadlift event later that same day.
Already 11 lifts into a demanding schedule, and 1510kg in total lifted, she stepped up for her 12th lift of the day and pulled an incredible 185kg – earning both a national and world record in the Masters division 55–59 in the process.
After a huge first day, she returned to the platform on Sunday for the APL Victorian State Championships at Apex Strength in Coburg.
With fatigue understandably setting in, the competition proved more challenging and not everything went to plan.
Despite this, she showed remarkable grit through to the very end.
On her 20th and final lift of the weekend, she attempted a massive
190kg deadlift – the heaviest lift she had gone for across all three competitions.
The bar moved strongly, but a slight instability at the top saw the lift ruled a “no lift.”
While it didn’t count officially, the attempt capped off an extraordinary weekend.
“On a good day, I know I had that lift, but I’m incredibly proud that my 20th lift of the weekend was my biggest – and that I got so close,” a tired and delighted Findley said.
Across two days, three competitions, and 20 lifts, her performance showcased not only elite-level strength, but also the mental toughness required to keep pushing beyond limits.
With multiple world and national records to her name from a single weekend, this achievement stands as a powerful example of what can be accomplished through preparation, perseverance and sheer determination.
