Orbost Snowy Rovers scored its second win of the season in round three of the East Gippsland Football Netball League reserves competition last Saturday and moved into the top four in the process.
The Blues welcomed Paynesville to Lochiel Park and gave them a football lesson, running out 87-point winners.
Orbost got better as the match went on, their defence ruthless in the second half, keeping Paynesville scoreless.
Jake Kuyper who has played sparingly in recent seasons, was best on field in an impressive return, ably assisted by Hayden Mitchell, Deon Scott, Luke Borley, Kyle Maverick and Jackson De Prinse.
Maverick and De Prinse are similar to Kuyper and have played rarely in recent seasons, but they both look likely types that add some much needed depth at reserves level.
Maverick and Jack Sanna both kicked three goals, while Shaun Waddell kicked a couple.
It was great to see Paynesville represented by a thirds side for the first time for the season and for several years.
Still light on for numbers, they were outclassed by the Blues, who recorded their first victory of the campaign.
Orbost kicked 32 goals
in its 207-point victory, with Beau Hanratty and Xavier Martin leading the way with six goals each, Jack Barnes slotted four, with Daniel Martin and Jacque Renaut chipping in with three, with Will Craigie and Caleb Kenny finished with two.
Best players were plentiful, and led by Xavier Martin, Hanratty, Daniel Martin, Barnes, Craigie and Renaut.
The Blues will head back down the highway this week, turning off the highway at Stratford to take on Boisdale Briagolong at the Cabbage Patch.
