Orbost Snowy Rovers enjoyed a strong round three at the courts last week, winning six of seven fixtures against Paynesville in
East Gippsland netball.
The “A” grade side produced a dominant performance, reminiscent of a grand final showing from recent seasons, with clinical shooting and a high-tempo game resulting in an 80–31 victory.
Liv Betts and Meg Herbert led the way in a strong team display, with all players contributing.
Paynesville was more competitive in “B” grade, with Orbost initially tested before gradually gaining control as the match progressed.
The Blues eventually ran out 36–21 winners, with Phoebe Seal and Zoe Jenkins among
the better players.
The “D” grade clash proved the most tightly contested of the day, with Paynesville remaining in touch until the final quarter.
However, Orbost finished strongly to secure the win, with Lani Mundy influential, while Megan Sage and Jemima Seal also played key roles in the 33–12 result.
In the under 17s, both sides had periods of momentum in a high-quality contest.
Cleaner ball movement and fewer turnovers allowed Orbost to pull away in the second half for a 43–29 win, with Mundy, Lara Seal and Remi MacDonell all showing strong development.
The under 15s was more one-sided, with Orbost controlling all four quarters to record a 37–9 victory.
Isabella Barnes and Hayley Russell were in strong form.
Paynesville took the points in the under 13s, defeating Orbost 38–19, with Amirra Barnes and Alyssa Clay among the better performers for the Blues.
Orbost Snowy Rovers now travel to Boisdale this weekend to take on the in-form Bombers.
