Well-known Gippsland seedstock business Mawarra Genetics has announced the divestment of their Longford holding ‘Tanjil’, following a strategic acquisition of the property ‘Moorak’ in Holbrook, New South Wales, marking the next step in the evolution and expansion of the family-run operation.
The Holbrook acquisition strengthens Mawarra’s ability to service both stud and commercial clients across a broader geographic footprint, while maintaining a long-standing Gippsland foundation.
“This decision supports our existing clients, our family, and future opportunities,” the Sykes family said.
As part of this transition, the Mawarra property at Longford, ‘Tanjil’, is being offered for sale by Elders Nick Myer, Ben Townsend and Greg Tuckett.
‘Tanjil’ comprising 471 hectares (1,165 acres) is ideally positioned on the edge of the Latrobe Valley and offers excellent access via major arterials and proximity to key export pathways. Located within an ideal temperate coastal climate, the property’s productivity is underpinned by its alluvial red gum river flats and frontage to the Latrobe River, including a secure 170ML water entitlement and 88ha* of modern spray irrigation.
The property further benefits from two well-appointed residences both set in elevated garden settings commanding views over the Latrobe River flats, strategically designed stud complex and sale barn, undercover cattle yards and extensive machinery/hay shedding.
“Over the duration of ownership, the Sykes family have held an excellent reputation not only for their genetics, but their vision, investment and strategic development into key fit for purpose infrastructure, pasture improvement, input and fertiliser applications, in addition to designing an excellent farm layout ideally suited for ease of stock management and production efficiencies” Mr Myer said.
‘Tanjil’ is being offered for sale via Expression of Interest closing Wednesday, May 27, at 4pm (AEST).
