The Orbost Arts Centre is set to come alive with the sounds of home-grown indie rock this weekend, as local trio Short Long Way takes the stage for the next instalment of the popular Sunday Music Sessions.
Scheduled for Sunday, 17 May, the event promises a high-energy afternoon featuring a band known for its eclectic fusion of genres and decades of experience.
Comprised of Daz on vocals and guitar, Surf on bass, and Glen on drums, Short Long Way is a classic power trio that refuses to be pinned down to a single style.
While best described as Indie Rock, the band seamlessly blends elements of punk, surf, blues and jazz.
Their sound is heavily influenced by iconic artists such as Lou Reed, Tom Waits, The Clash and the Minutemen.
Audiences can expect a setlist dominated by original tracks, interspersed with a few carefully chosen covers that pay homage to their musical inspirations.
Their lyrical content ranges from the playful to the serious, making for a fun, exciting, and unexpected experience for the listener.
The members of Short Long Way are well-known figures in the regional arts community, having spent years performing in various cover bands, choruses, musical theatre productions, and solo shows.
This deep-rooted experience ensures a polished and versatile performance that aims to offer something for every musical taste.
Adding to the afternoon’s appeal, the trio will be supported by local artist Clay McCurly, who will open the session with a selection of his own tunes.
The Sunday Music Sessions offer a relaxed environment for locals to connect with regional talent.
Doors at the Orbost Arts Centre will open at 3 PM, and the community is encouraged to bring friends, grab a seat, and enjoy an afternoon of premium East Gippsland music.
