Orbost Snowy netballers endured a difficult round five outing at Lochiel Park last Saturday, with Stratford proving too strong across six of the seven grades in East Gippsland Football Netball League action.
In the “A” grade clash, the Blues matched the Swans at stages but were unable to maintain consistency through the midcourt at key moments, with Stratford pulling away for a 66–41 win. Hayley Boxall battled strongly for the Blues.
A similar pattern unfolded in “B” grade, where the Swans finished the quarters more effectively to secure a 42–29 victory. Claudia Johnson and Jess Griebenow were among Orbost Snowy’s better contributors.
Stratford made a fast start in “C” grade and continued to build momentum throughout the match, eventually recording a commanding 57–24 win. Griebenow was again prominent.
The Swans also proved too polished in “D” grade, finishing as comfortable 45–18 winners, with Nakeetah Rogers and Emma Chapman working hard for the Blues.
The under-17 and under-15 contests were the most competitive of the day, with both games closely fought. Orbost Snowy went down 42–37 in the 17s, while the 15s claimed the only victory of the day, victorious 30-26. Lara Seal and Remi MacDonell impressed in the under-17s, while Leila Barnes stood out in the under-15s.
In the under-13s, Stratford proved too strong for a gallant Orbost side, running out 39–17 winners.
