Members of the Orbost Probus Club have made the most of the mild autumn weather this month, participating in a diverse range of social outings and informative sessions.
The club’s social calendar was packed with local lunch trips, including visits to the Nowa Nowa General Store and Leon Palace.
Members also gathered for a meal at the Orbost Club following their regular monthly meeting.
The month’s activities will conclude with a highly anticipated excursion to Sale to visit Timeless Memories.
The trip will include a generous morning tea, with members expected to share their highlights from the visit at the next gathering.
At the May meeting, guest speaker Rhonda Smith captivated the audience with a presentation on her personal family tree research.
Ms Smith took members on a journey through her ancestry, revealing her investigations had uncovered several fascinating surprises she was previously unaware of.
The meeting also highlighted a helpful tip for regional commuters.
Member Audrey VandenBerg recently shared her experience travelling to Bendigo via V-Line, noting the exceptional support she received at Southern Cross Station.
Ms VandenBerg was assisted by Travellers Aid, a free service that escorts country travellers between platforms and through the station.
Members noted that this is an invaluable resource for locals navigating major city transport hubs.
Looking ahead, the club’s next meeting will be held on Thursday, June 18, at 11am at the Senior Citizens rooms.
The guest speaker for June will be representatives from the Orbost Historical Society.
Prospective members and those interested in a social, community-minded morning are encouraged to attend.
