Agriculture Victoria’s Gippsland Irrigation team has welcomed a strong response to the return of the Gippsland Irrigation Expo, held this week at the Sale Showgrounds.
More than 400 people attended last Wednesday’s event — the first expo in six years — highlighting strong interest from farmers in improving irrigation efficiency and on-farm water management.
Agriculture Victoria regional manager irrigation south east Sarah Killury said the event was designed to provide farmers with practical, value-driven information.
“Farmers told us they wanted an event that adds value beyond sales, so we developed a program focused on learning, upskilling and sharing practical knowledge,” Ms Killury said.
“The expo also provided an opportunity to connect with industry and explore the latest irrigation products and services.”
Fifty exhibitors showcased new technologies and innovations, while guest speakers — led by Dr James Hills from the Tasmanian Institute of Agriculture — shared practical advice to help farmers improve water efficiency and irrigation practices.
Ms Killury thanked exhibitors and attendees — including some who travelled from interstate — for supporting the event’s return.
“We’d like to thank everyone, including Gippsland irrigators and those who came from further away, who helped make the day such a success,” she said.
The 2026 Gippsland Irrigation Expo was funded through the Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action’s Sustainable Irrigation Program and delivered by Agriculture Victoria in partnership with the West Gippsland Catchment Management Authority.
