In Mallacoota, East Gippsland Shire Council is seeking community feedback on a proposal to rename Karbeethong Avenue.
The move is being driven by safety concerns for emergency services.
Due to the existing Karbeethong Road nearby, the current name has caused duplication issues and confusion during time-critical call-outs.
The proposed new name is ‘Helena Drive’, which would honour the late Helena Margaret Buckland, a figure of local significance.
Residents directly impacted by the change were recently sent notification letters, but the invitation to comment is open to the wider community.
Locals are encouraged to provide feedback on the proposed name or suggest alternative titles for the road.

Feedback submissions close on Friday, July 10. Community members can have their say online, via email or post, or hand-delivering their submissions to any council service centre.
