A gallant Orbost Snowy Rovers were defeated by Wy Yung by 20 points in round seven of the East Gippsland Football Netball League at Bullumwaal Road last Saturday.
The Tigers kicked four goals to one in the opening term to set up a handy 15-point advantage.
For the remaining three quarters the sides basically traded goals, the Blues putting plenty of pressure on the hard running Wy Yung outfit, but unable to assert any significant scoreboard pressure.
Orbost never gave up, but the Tigers had all the answers across half back when tested in a tight last quarter, where both sides kicked a goal each.
Daniel Martin and Jack Barnes kicked two goals each for the Blues, who were best served by Xavier Martin, Damien Mitchell, Lachlan Robinson, Jarrah Morrison, Alexander Jenkins, and Jacque Renaut.
Orbost remain in seventh place on the ladder.
There was disappointment in the reserves, with the Blues suffering another debilitating defeat, this time to the tune of 135 points.
With a place in the top four up for grabs, the undermanned Blues were outclassed, only kicking two goals for the match, both off the boot of Kruze Farley.
Will Craigie, Jack Sanna, Xavier Martin, David Perkins, Kyle Maverick and Tim Findley all tried hard for the Blues, who now sit outside the top four on percentage.
Orbost Snowy Rovers will enjoy a week off this week for the long weekend bye, before welcoming arch rival, Lakes Entrance to Lochiel Park on June 13.
