It was a lean day for the Orbost Snowy Rovers on their road to trip to Wy Yung for round seven East Gippsland netball, with two junior victories flying the flag for the Blues.
The under 17s kept their finals hopes alive and hold on fourth spot, with a comprehensive 37-18 dissection of the Tigers.
Kira Burn and Zoe Kleinitz were standouts for the Blues and pivotal in the victory.
The under 15s were pushed right to the buzzer by a Tiger team which played significantly above its ladder position.
Orbost hung on grimly late for a 25-25 win, with Layley Robinson and Gemma Geer starring.
The premiership contending Tigers were too slick for the Blues in “A” grade, making use of turnovers and errand passes, accumulating a 23-goal victory, 56-33, by the time the timekeepers called a halt to proceedings.
The Blues had some fruitful periods throughout the contest, but were unable to match the home sides intensity, Chelsea Di Cecco and Lara Seal battling hard for the visitors.
It was a similar scenario in “B” grade with the Tigers making their own luck and capitalising, comprehensive 49-28 victors, with Harriet Freeman and Jess Griebenow among the better players for Orbost.
Wy Yung powered away in the second half to win “C” grade 51-20, with Indy Croad and Lani Mundy trying hard for the Blues against a handy Tiger unit.
A talent-packed Wy Yung “D” grade side ran out easy 40-10 victors over Orbost, who were best served by Jass Westaway and Nakeetah Rogers.
The under 13s tried hard but went down to the Tigers, 49-12, Elsie Freeman and Alyssa Clay showing plenty of promise.
After a weekend off courtesy of the Kings Birthday long weekend competition bye, the Blues will welcome arch enemy, Lakes Entrance on June 13 for seven big games of netball, with some close matches expected.
