The East Gippsland Art Gallery and the Gunaikurnai Land and Waters Aboriginal Corporation (GLaWAC) have partnered once again to present South East NOW 2026, a vibrant celebration of Aboriginal art, culture and community.
Now in its eighth year, the annual exhibition continues to showcase the strength, diversity, and creativity of Aboriginal artists from across the region.
Gallery organisers stated they are honoured to work alongside artists whose powerful and culturally significant practices enrich the public’s understanding of Country, community, and culture, while inspiring both local audiences and visitors.
Featuring the work of 17 outstanding artists across two local venues, South East NOW 2026 offers a unique opportunity to experience contemporary Aboriginal art and connect with the stories, perspectives, and creative voices of the region.
The community is warmly invited to celebrate the launch of this special exhibition, which will feature two separate opening events across the weekend.
The first opening event took place at the East Gippsland Art Gallery last Friday, while a second opening celebration was held at the Gunaikurnai Land and Waters Aboriginal Corporation on Saturday.
The exhibitions will continue to run until July 25.
