Wilderness collective hits full stride

by

The Mallacoota Wilderness Collective is undergoing a period of significant growth, with the launch of a new private office hub, the completion of major business workshops and the successful rollout of the 2026 Remote Microenterprises Australia (RMA) program.

The collective, located at the Snowy Wilderness Discovery Centre, has become a hive of activity for local entrepreneurs seeking to modernise their operations and connect with fellow business owners.

One of the most anticipated developments is the construction of a dedicated shared office space within the Wilderness Collective.

Supported by the Community Enterprise Foundation, the project will provide local microbusiness owners with a private, professional environment designed for focused work.

In addition to the interior upgrades, a new digital screen has been mounted on the front of the workspace.

This screen is set to become a central information hub for the town, displaying upcoming workshops, community announcements and local opportunities.

The collective recently celebrated the wrap-up of its “Digital Foundations for Local Businesses” series.

Facilitated by Matt from Your Mate Agency, the five-week program saw eight local business owners move beyond theory to actively build and improve their digital systems.

The hands-on workshop focused on increasing online visibility, refining websites and building digital confidence.

The program was made possible through a partnership with the Paynesville Neighbourhood Centre and Learn Local.

The 2026 Remote Microenterprises Australia (RMA) program is also in full swing, currently supporting 26 women from across East Gippsland.

Now three weeks into the schedule, participants represent a diverse cross-section of industries, including tourism, health and wellness, creative arts and professional services.

The program provides a comprehensive support network, including masterclasses, peer coaching, and a dedicated online learning portal.

Such is the demand for the initiative that the waitlist for the next intake is already nearly full.

As the colder months settle in, the collective has moved to winter opening hours:

– Monday: 9am–3pm

– Tuesday: 9am–5pm

– Wednesday: 9am–1pm (self-serve printing only)

– Thursday: 9am–3pm

– Friday: Closed

Despite the restricted office hours, the collective remains accessible to the community.

Facilities can still be booked online, with secure keycard access provided for after-hours use.

Local business owners interested in the RMA program or looking to use the new digital screen for announcements are encouraged to contact the collective or visit the Remote Microenterprises Australia website.
