East Gippsland residents and visitors will have the rare opportunity to experience a unique candlelit concert this week when acclaimed musicians perform a one-night-only event at the Bairnsdale Uniting Church.
Scheduled for Friday, June 26, at 7.30pm, the performance will feature Chris Trikillis on the church’s historic pipe organ, Glen Loe on bagpipes, and Gerry Ciavarella on saxophone. The trio will present a specially curated program designed to showcase the building’s distinctive acoustics in an intimate, atmospheric setting.
Organisers say the event aims to bring together congregation members and the wider public for an evening celebrating music, regional culture, and heritage.
A central highlight of the evening will be the spotlight on the church’s renowned pipe organ, widely recognised as a significant musical and historical asset within the East Gippsland region.
Organised by the Pipe Organ and Music Events Group (POMEG), the concert directly supports the ongoing preservation and maintenance of both the pipe organ and the church’s grand piano, raising vital awareness about protecting these valuable instruments for future generations.
The unique recital has been officially included in the East Gippsland Winter Festival program, helping to drive community participation and draw visitors into Bairnsdale during the cooler winter season.
Tickets can be purchased through the East Gippsland Winter Festival website via the Humanitix platform, an ethical ticketing registry that directs 100 per cent of its booking profits to charitable causes supporting global education, healthcare, and essential human needs.
