The Mountain Cattlemen’s Association of Victoria (MCAV) has awarded Chris Commins with a life membership in recognition of his extraordinary contribution to the association and the Victorian High Country.
Commins has dedicated decades to the MCAV through leadership, advocacy, projects, fire management work, and an unwavering commitment to protecting high country heritage and traditions.
Following in the footsteps of his father Jim Commins, a foundation member and former MCAV president, Commins has continued a proud family legacy of service to both the association and the mountains themselves. From serving as MCAV president to representing the association on countless committees and projects, he has consistently been willing to speak up and work behind the scenes for the future of the region.
Life membership is one of the highest honours the MCAV can bestow, celebrating a career spent defending the rights and traditions of mountain cattlemen. It was considered highly fitting that the award was presented to Commins at the Hilltop Hotel in Omeo following a recent Omeo branch meeting.
