Members of the Mallacoota Coast Guard were called into action on Wednesday, June 24, to assist in a critical offshore medical evacuation.
The local volunteer crew was deployed to support a medical transfer from a tanker transiting approximately eight nautical miles offshore from Mallacoota.
The coast guard vessel provided on-water support during the operation.
Once the patient was successfully airlifted from the tanker by emergency services, the Mallacoota crew returned safely to their base.
The successful coordination of offshore rescues and medical evacuations relies heavily on the dedication of local volunteers.
Mallacoota Coast Guard it is actively seeking new volunteers to join the flotilla.
No prior maritime, boating, or emergency service experience is required to join.
The Coast Guard provides all necessary training for new recruits, covering a wide variety of roles.
Residents interested in contributing to community safety and learning new skills are encouraged to apply.
