Acclaimed local musician Todd Cook is set to warm up the Bruthen Mechanics Hall this Friday, July 3, delivering a blockbuster performance for the East Gippsland Winter Festival before heading overseas.
The special winter showcase marks one of the final Australian appearances for Todd Cook & the Rufous Whistlers before the outfit departs for a tour of Ireland and Scotland. The impending international trip includes a headline show at the renowned Belfast Crescent Art Centre collaborating with local choirs and ukulele groups and then shows everyday at the Edinburgh Fringe festival throughout August. It follows a massive year for the band, who released their latest studio album last year to critical acclaim, spearheaded by a hit single that cracked the top 10 on the national regional music charts.
The evening promises an unforgettable celebration of collaboration, harmony, and storytelling, deeply rooted in local narratives.
The high-caliber line-up is a true community affair, featuring performances from the popular Alley Cats Community Choir and virtuosic local guitarist Olivia Lay. Attendees can expect an evening of inspiring instrumentation, local songs and powerful voices highlighting regional connection and creativity.
Festivities kick off at 6.30pm when doors open for a community barbecue. The live music program begins at 7pm with the Alley Cats Community Choir, followed by Olivia Lay at 8pm, before Todd Cook & the Rufous Whistlers take the stage at 9pm to round out the night.
A bar will be operating with drinks available at bar prices throughout the evening, which is scheduled to conclude at 10.30pm.
