The Rotary Club of Orbost held its annual changeover dinner on Wednesday, July 1, at the Marlo Angling club with more than 40 rotarians from Orbost, Lakes Entrance and Bairnsdale, their families, friends and club guests in attendance.
Outgoing president, Judy van der Vlugt welcomed members and thanked local rotarians and friends of rotary for their support during the year and work at events such as the Christmas Eve Street Festival, the Australia Day celebration and community activities such as school fetes and newcomer evenings.
Judy also presented financial donations to local organisations, with the Orbost food kitchen, SES and CFA branches represented at the meeting.
This was in addition to the support provided for local Guides, Centenary House, Lifeline Gippsland, Lochiel House and Orbost Community College plus the rotary foundation and PolioPlus.
Peter Sindrey (past president of the rotary club of Lakes Entrance and past Assistant District Governor) thanked Judy for her leadership over the past rotary year and inducted the new president of the Rotary club of Orbost for 2026-27, Peter van den Oever.
President Peter and his team look forward to a rewarding year of Rotary fellowship and community service for the local area and beyond.
