The Orbost Snowy Rovers under 17 team continued its build-up to finals with an impressive 52-29 victory over Wy Yung at Lochiel Park in round 14 of East Gippsland netball.
Sitting second on the ladder and aiming to secure the double chance, the Blues proved too strong for a gallant Tigers side. Lara Seal, Remi Macdonell, and Lani Mundy were best on court for the home team.
The under 15 match was a thriller between second and third. Wy Yung held on for a narrow 26-23 win in a contest that could have gone either way. Gemma Geer, Jemima Seal, Billie Young, and Abby Palmer starred for Orbost Snowy, who remain well-positioned for a top-two finish.
In the under 13s, the unbeaten Tigers produced a dominant performance to win 58-12, despite determined efforts from Ruby Faithfull, Alivia Young, and Jools Morrison.
Wy Yung controlled the senior grades, starting with “A” grade, where they secured a ruthless 63-30 victory to stay in finals contention. Hayley Boxall and Kirsty Herbert fought hard for the Blues.
It was a similar story in “B” grade, with Wy Yung claiming a 51-23 win to protect their spot in the top two, despite strong games from Phoebe Seal and Tamara Heyne.
Wy Yung proved far too strong in “C” grade with an emphatic 70-20 victory, while Chloe Shanahan and Kira Burn battled hard for Orbost Snowy.
The “D” grade match was closer, but the Tigers proved steadier in the key moments to prevail 40-24, with Kayley Robinson and Jemima Seal making solid contributions for the hosts.
Orbost Snowy Rovers now turn their attention to a massive clash against arch-rival Lakes Entrance at Lakeside Oval this Saturday.
