Beloved Australian vocal duo Vika and Linda Bull are set to bring their rich harmonies and celebrated songbook to East Gippsland next month, taking the stage at Bairnsdale’s Forge Theatre on Saturday, August 8.
The local performance forms part of their nationwide tour celebrating their newly released ninth studio album, Where Do You Come From?.
Joined by their backing band, The Bullettes, the sisters will treat local audiences to a mix of brand-new material alongside classic tracks and storied anecdotes spanning their legendary nearly four-decade career.
Released in June, Where Do You Come From? represents a landmark shift for the duo, marking their emergence as powerful songwriters in their own right. The album explores deeply personal themes including identity, ancestry, motherhood, aging, grief, joy, and the grounding presence of water.
“This album is about life,” Vika said.
“Birth, death, and everything in between.”
After a lifetime spent lending their unmistakable voices to the works of other artists, the new record sees the sisters stepping fully into the spotlight to tell their own story.
For more than 35 years, Vika and Linda have captivated listeners with their rich, soul-stirring harmonies and magnetic stage presence. From their early days singing in church reflecting their Tongan heritage to performing on world stages with The Black Sorrows, the duo has released nine studio albums, topped national charts and collaborated with icons including Paul Kelly and Kasey Chambers.
Their significant contribution to Australian music has seen them awarded the Order of Australia Medal (OAM) and inducted into the Music Victoria Hall of Fame.
Tickets are selling quickly for what promises to be one of the premier live music highlights on the local winter arts calendar.
