What a wonderful day it was on Wednesday, September 18, when the Snowy Flamingos Cancer Support Group held its annual pamper day at Orbost Golf Club.
Thanks to the hard work of the Flamingo Fling organising committee and the generosity of the Orbost community at the Flamingo Fling High Tea, the ladies were treated to a relaxing and fun day.
Orbost Golf Club was supportive, providing use of its beautiful venue and kitchen facilities. A magnificent grazing table was presented by Two Little Owls Café with an abundance of beautiful savoury and sweet offerings.
Lyn from Rock, Paper, Scissors, helped the ladies with card making and created delight with her baby wallabies. Jodie Voss and Wendy Owen provided hand care a ‘facial for your hands’, Athalie Mason had feet feeling magical with foot massages using her foot massage machine and Rebecca Marshall provided a lovely scented range from Scentsy. Sue Beel donated floral garlands and beautiful floral corsages for the ladies to wear.
The district nurses, clinic nurse, and women’s health care nurse from Orbost Regional Health visited and shared in the fellowship and joy of the day. Volunteers from the organising committee stayed with and supported the ladies who attended their hard work in preparation of the High Tea and the Pamper Day is to be commended. These events would not happen without their energy, kindness and commitment.
Ladies in attendance were delighted to receive a pamper pack with hand creams, home baked shortbreads, candles and donated samples from Jodie Voss. There were some ladies who could not attend due to hospitalisation, chemotherapy and recovery from treatments. They will not miss out and will receive pamper packs after the event.
The Snowy Flamingos Cancer Support Group was established in 2015 and offers fellowship for ladies affected by any sort of cancer. The membership supports women undergoing surgery, chemotherapy and radiotherapy, meeting on the third Wednesday of every month, 11am at the Orbost Club members lounge.
The Orbost Club is very supportive and kind, providing a professional service to all ladies who attend the meetings.
The group also shares fellowship with other ladies cancer support group they will meet with the Paynesville Pink Ladies in November.
