Snowy River Road reopened to traffic last Friday, July 22, following critical landslip repair work undertaken following significant rainfall in the area earlier this year.
Independent geotechnical and engineering monitoring found that a small section of the road between the Limestone Road intersection, Wulgulmerang and the NSW border had become unstable following sustained rainfall and severe weather.
“Snowy River Road reopened to traffic ahead of schedule following critical landslip repair work undertaken by our crews,” a Regional Roads Victoria spokesperson said.
“We thank drivers for their patience and cooperation throughout the delivery of vital repairs to this road.”
Message boards and signage were placed along Snowy River Road, Gelantipy Road and Bruthen-Buchan Road to advise drivers of the closure.
