On Wednesday, December 7, the Orbost Golf Club held the inaugural Orbost and District Jobs Fair.
With more than 50 jobs currently available in the district across a range of industries, the scene was set for those looking to find employment to take the opportunity to meet and greet with potential employers.
Also in attendance on the day were training providers, job support organisations and local sporting, social and community clubs offering volunteer opportunities.
Orbost Secondary College had a number of students attend the day to learn more about local opportunities and explore some summer work placements and future job pathways.
Local organiser of the day, Tim Cotter from the Future of Orbost and District Project was enthused by the level of energy in the room on the day and pleased to report that a number of interviews had been lined up and jobs found on the day.
“We are hearing that somewhere between 10-20 positions may have been filled as a result of the day, which is a fantastic result,” Mr Cotter said.
