The new year is here, and tourists have flocked to Orbost and Marlo to enjoy the festivities and sunshine.
The Marlo Hotel was packed on Saturday night, with hundreds of locals and tourists flocking to the pub to ring in the new year, enjoying the music played by Gippsland-based rock cover band, Jarbeque.
Co-owner of Marlo Bait and Tackle, Amanda Henry, said the good weather has helped attract more customers.
“We have been very busy – yesterday (New Year’s Eve), was even busier,” Ms Henry said.
“We’ve been selling lots of ice, bait, egg and bacon rolls and coffee, and all of our customers have been very friendly.”
She said the relaxed COVID-19 restrictions have also helped with tourism numbers, with most of those visiting coming from flood-affected areas such as Mildura and Echuca.
