Locally owned commercial and residential building practitioners, Built QA, co-owned by Lachlan Heather and Luke Priestley, will expand to include the manufacturing of light gauge steel framing in Newmerella on what once was an old sawmill.
The expansion will be a joint venture with the Dahlsen family, who have held a long association with the Orbost community.
Dahlsens reached out to the long-time builder clients to establish a 50/50 joint venture to be called Dahlsen Steel Trusses Pty Ltd which will compliment the business of Lachlan and Luke as builders of timber and steel houses, as well as commercial and domestic shedding.
As part of the Victorian Forestry Plan – Forest Transition Program, a proposal has been prepared to access a $500,000 grant on a 1:1 basis which would allow the operations to scale up through purchasing an additional two machines.
However, with a lead time of 8-10 weeks, it is crucial the grant be allocated through a letter of commitment to allow the process to continue without delay.
