The Cape Conran boardwalk will be open by Christmas with work to recommence in the coming weeks, according to Gippsland East Nationals MP, Tim Bull.
However, the Cape Conran cabins will be considerably longer, with a completion date 17 months away, in December 2024, with work to recommence by Christmas this year.
President of the Orbost and District Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ODCCI), Samantha Reynolds, has slammed the announcement, stating the altered timeline of the Cape Conran Cabins “simply isn’t good enough”.
“This announcement has infuriated members given they (the Cape Conran Cabins) were burnt four summers ago,” she said.
“The 2024 completion date is yet again just another blow to our community who feel the government is constantly short-changing us especially considering the timeline shift of the closure of native timber being brought forward also.
