Floods, floods and more floods

by Snowy River Mail
5 December 2023
in Local News

Once again, flooding has hit East Gippsland, causing road closures, downed trees and landslides.
The Snowy River in Orbost peaked at 6.61 metres on Sunday and falling, while in Jarrahmond it was at 6.75 metres and falling on Monday.
The Cann, Genoa and Bemm River catchments recoded between 50-120mm of rainfall on December 1, while Mallacoota, McKillops Bridge and Orbost have recorded a combined total 564mm in the past week.
The wild weather left multiple roads closed, including the Marlo, Lochend and Jarrahmond Roads.
At the time of going to print, the Marlo Road is still closed.
Heavy rainfall in Mallacoota caused a landslide on the Mallacoota-Genoa Road last Thursday morning, leaving the community cut off from the rest of the state more than 24 hours.
