In an exciting development for the Gippsland community and visitors alike, the much-anticipated next phase of the Snowy Rail Bridge restoration project is set to begin following the signing of a contract with McInnes Earthmoving – a family owned and operated business in Gippsland.
This community-initiated project, made possible through funding from the Victorian State Government’s Tourism Infrastructure Program and support from the Federal Government, will preserve the historic bridge as a key landmark and gateway to the scenic East Gippsland Rail Trail.
Save the Snowy Rail Bridge Inc. has extended its heartfelt thanks to the Victorian State Government for recognising the bridge’s role in the region’s cultural landscape and tourism economy.
The careful works will unfold in stages, prioritising the heritage value of this much-loved Orbost icon.
