With the East Gippsland Winter Festival officially kicking off last weekend, Orbost’s Neon Jungle event is set to light up the town this Friday.
The night starts at 5pm on Nicholson Street, outside Home Hardware where there will be a station set up where attendees can purchase lights to bring their lanterns to life.
Lanterns will also be available for purchase.
At 5.30pm there will be a Welcome and Acknowledgement of Country.
A community lantern parade will start at 6pm and face painting and neon disco will be held at The Old Bottle Shop from 7pm.
Nicholson Street eateries will also have their doors open with plenty of hot food options.
WINTER SKATE
Taking place on Saturday, July 13, from 4.30 to 8pm at the Cann River Community Centre and its exciting new skatepark, Winter Skate is a celebration of community and youthful spirit.
A highlight of the East Gippsland Winter Festival, the event offers skating, interactive activities, delicious food, and live performances by Regional Arts Victoria’s (RAV) Bad Kids Project and other local talents.
In the lead-up to the Winter Skate, local students will take part in visual and performing arts workshops as part of RAV’s Bad Kids Project.
The work created at these workshops will be displayed in a stunning performance on the night of the event, taking place on an outdoor stage equipped with top-notch gear, along-side live projections showcasing the artworks of our talented youth, lighting up the entire community.
This celebration is an opportunity for the vibrant community of Cann River and surrounds to come together, foster connections and create lasting memories.
The Bad Kids Project is part of a VicHealth initiative called Future Reset: Young People, Arts, and Mental Wellbeing.
Regional Arts Victoria is one of nine organisations across the state supported to deliver creative projects that ignite social connections among Victoria’s young people.
This initiative aims to enrich the community and enhance mental wellbeing through the arts.
