This Sunday, August 11, a special blessing ceremony will take place at St James Memorial Anglican Church during the 9.30am service.
The Bishop of Gippsland will bless the Jarrahmond State School 1914 – 1919 Roll of Honor, commemorating the school’s contributions during WWI.
The Roll of Honor, originally housed at Jarrahmond State School until its closure in 1949, was entrusted to the Orbost RSL Sub Branch for safekeeping.
However, the Jarrahmond Landcare Group recently decided it should be relocated to the church.
It will now be displayed alongside another Roll of Honor board, which lists the names of those who served in WWI and those who tragically lost their lives from the Orbost district.
St James Memorial Anglican Church is also home to three stained glass windows dedicated to fallen soldiers, further enriching the church’s tribute to local war heroes.
Following the service, a morning tea will be provided, offering a delightful opportunity for the community to come together and reflect.
All are welcome to attend this significant event.
