Despite being in seventh place on the ladder, Orbost Snowy Rovers have outclassed the sixth-ranked Lakes Entrance in the reserves of round 16 of the East Gippsland Football Netball League.
Orbost set the game on its head in the first term, kicking six unanswered goals, eventually running out 48-point victors.
Prolific goal kicker, Deon Scott, kicked his best haul for the season finishing with five, while Andrew and Hayden Kenny stepped up kicking three each for the Blues, who have struggled at times this season due to injuries and unavailabilities.
James Joiner, Jimmy Derbyshire, Hayden Mitchell, Todd Griebenow, Andrew Kenny and Jack Sanna were all standouts in a morale-boosting victory.
It was disappointment in the thirds, with the third-placed Lakes Entrance scoring its biggest win of the season, knocking off Orbost Snowy Rovers for the first time this year, ceasing the coveted double chance with the victory.
With plenty to play for the Seagulls were out of the blocks quickly, kicking six goals to two in a spirited opening term at the Lakeside Oval.
The second term was a much more even term, the Seagulls managing to lengthen their lead to 29 points with greater efficiency inside the forward 50.
The third term belonged to the Blues, who kicked three goals to one, Angus Joiner (four goals) and Toby Herbert (two), providing a target up forward with the dynamic Kruze Farley well and truly blanketed by the Seagull defence.
With the margin just 14 points at the final change, both sides had plenty to play for, the double chance up for grabs.
It was the Seagulls who made all the running, despite their radar being off inside 50, they kicked two goals to one, running out impressive 24-point winners.
Among the best players for the Blues were Andrew Robinson, Tye Robinson, Toby Herbert, Brayden Fenner, Angus Joiner and Thomas Macalister.
