PAYNESVILLE
Current position: Seventh
Points: 12
Strengths: When the Gulls get all their cattle on the park they have a solid midfield with Ben McKinnon, Charlie Mein, Oscar Pike and Matt Golding all impressing. Alex McLaren has been a revelation at centre half back, but he has lacked support.
Weaknesses: Kicking goals has been a problem for several years for Paynesville. The club will be on the lookout for some reliable goalkickers in the off season, but as plenty of clubs in the region will tell you, they aren’t easy to find.
Rising Star: Caleb Crofts – has impressed in his first season with Gulls after crossing from Bairnsdale.
Run home: Orbost Snowy Rovers (H), Wy Yung (H), Boisdale Briagolong (A), Lindenow (H), Lucknow (A) and Stratford (H).
Prediction: It’s been a tough season at AJ Freeman Reserve, decimated by injury the Gulls have made solid progress as a club, building a good list and easily being able to field three teams. Coach Darren Vickery will be hoping for some wins on the way home to create some momentum heading into 2025.
