Members at the Orbost Bowling Club continue to tune up for the 2024/25 pennant season by participating in the weekly social bowls sessions.
Both sessions of social bowls were played in windy conditions, with Sunday’s conditions being particularly challenging.
However, with the pennant season approaching, there was still a good turn out of members, who had decided that bowling practice was necessary regardless of conditions as there is no choice but to play on competition day.
Wednesday’s session consisted of two games of 10 ends with lunch in between the two games.
It was good to see Des Girling from Marlo and Steve Jenkins from Bemm River enjoying the day despite the wind.
The winning team for the day consisted of Maurice Frank (skip), Scott Farnell, Jurgen Fichtner and Girling.
Sunday was meant to be two games of eight ends, however the weather conditions forced members to shorten the second game to only six.
The winners for the afternoon were Greg Rankin (skip) and Fichtner who won both their games.
The next social bowls will be on played today, with players to be at the club by 10.30am for the morning game which will be followed by a quick break for lunch with the afternoon game commencing at approximately 1pm.
