There were mixed results in junior cricket for the Orbost youngsters last week, who continue to impress all and sundry with their endeavour and improved skills as the Bairnsdale Cricket Association season impressed.
The under 13s defeated Buchan, impressing with the bat making 6/102 from their 20 over allotment, before restricting the home side to 5/93.
The Blues holding their nerve late in the day as the tension mounted and Buchan made a late charge.
The under 16s had a day off, after being defeated on day one of a two-day fixture against Paynesville.
In this week’s matches, the under 13s host West Bairnsdale/Wy Yung on Friday night at the Orbost Recreation Reserve, while the under 16s commence a two-day fixture on Saturday against Meerlieu/Lindenow.
The Orbost Cricket Blasters are continuing to develop on a Thursday night, between 4-5pm, under the tutelage of Curtley Farley, Alfie Lindsay and Freddie Wilkinson, the club’s future looks to be in good hands.
