It is now more than 48 years since ‘Letters for Father Christmas’ became a Lions Club project.
Thousands of children throughout Australia have enjoyed the thrill of receiving a letter from Santa.
Bairnsdale Lions Club has been acting as Santa’s agent over the years and members have experienced great pleasure from the project. First and foremost, it is a simple community service project aimed at bringing enjoyment at Christmas time to children between the ages of two and seven years,
by way of receiving a personal, non-committal letter by return mail direct from the grand old gentleman’s North Pole workshop.
If your child is too young to write to Santa, write a letter from him/her and tell them what you have written, or if you would like your grandchild, niece or nephew to receive a letter from Father Christmas, just give any member of the Bairnsdale Lions Club their name and address and the club will do its best to see that the child receives a reply before Christmas Eve.
Children wishing to write to Father Christmas should place their letters in the special post boxes, which will be located at Toyworld (172 Main Street, Bairnsdale) and Kmart (Main Street, Bairnsdale) until Saturday, December 15, or post to ‘Father Christmas’, c/o PO Box 263, Bairnsdale, 3875.
Please make sure your child’s full name and address is written legibly in the letter.
Every effort will be made to see that Santa gets your letter.
No charge is made for this service, however any donations will be gratefully accepted and will be utilised to assist the less fortunate in the community.
Bairnsdale Lions Club acknowledges the generous support received from the people of Bairnsdale over many years. The continued support of Toyworld and Kmart for this project is also gratefully acknowledged.
