The Orbost community once again demonstrated its compassion and generosity, with a warm thank you extended from Samaritan’s Purse Orbost coordinator Viv Hughes to everyone who participated in this year’s Operation Christmas Child project.
The annual effort brings joy and hope to children in need around the world through donations of shoeboxes packed with essential items, educational supplies and toys.
In the Orbost district alone, an impressive 78 shoeboxes were filled with hygiene products, school supplies and gifts – each box representing a meaningful message of care from the local community.
Last week, the Operation Christmas Child van made a stop in Newmerella to collect these boxes before continuing its journey through Gippsland, gathering donations from neighbouring areas and finally heading back to Sydney.
There, volunteers will sort and prepare the shoeboxes for their overseas destinations, ensuring they reach vulnerable children across the globe.
