Bairnsdale Regional Health Service is on the hunt for a new chief executive officer after the recent departure of Robyn Hayles (pictured).

Bairnsdale Regional Health Service (BRHS) is recruiting a new chief executive officer following the departure recently of CEO Robyn Hayles from the health service.

Robyn has left BRHS to take up a new senior planning role with Safer Care Victoria.

BRHS’ executive quality and education, Kathy Kinrade, has been appointed as acting CEO while the health service seeks a new chief executive to lead the executive team.

BRHS board chair Sandy Leggat said while the board was sorry to see Robyn go, she had shown consistently exemplary leadership and left BRHS in a strong position for the future.

“BRHS was in the past week a finalist in the Victorian Public Healthcare Awards in the Premier’s Award for Best Medium-Sized Health Service and won a Gippsland Primary Health Award for the Aboriginal Health Unit’s innovative Culture at the Heart program,” Prof Leggat said.

“This illustrates Robyn’s capability as our CEO. We know that Robyn will continue to have a positive impact on the Victorian health service in her new position with Safer Care Victoria.”

Prof Leggat said acting CEO Kathy Kinrade is a great choice to lead BRHS during the search for a new permanent CEO to lead BRHS into its next phase.

“Kathy has had a longstanding executive role at the health service and has been instrumental in ensuring our status as an accredited health service in addition to the recent award nominations,” she said.

“Recent feedback from our patients, residents and their families has been very positive. The board thanks managers, staff and local doctors for living the BRHS principles of care – quality, integrity, communication and kindness – even when their days are very busy.”

Kathy said BRHS is focused squarely on delivering for the East Gippsland community as the recruitment process takes place.

“BRHS, as East Gippsland’s major healthcare provider, is well placed to grow with our community and meet their health needs with a talented and committed workforce and an experienced executive team to support our new CEO in the years to come,” she said.
