On Monday night, a small group of individuals decorated the large pine Christmas tree on the corner of Nicholson and Tarra Streets with the help of local businessmen, Darren Downey and Tim Grenfell.
The tree has stood in this place for more than 30 years after Tom and Jill Shanahan donated it to the current site.
Initially, the tree was decorated by Tom Shanahan himself along with the Orbost Garden Club and Orbost Lions Club members using fishing poles and ladders however, as members became older, they were physically unable to decorate the tree.
In 2016, a group of individuals led by members of the Orbost and District Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ODCCI) decided to bring the tree back to life again and decorate it.
