One of the largest gatherings in recent years graced the annual Community Christmas Carols, solidifying the event as a cherished family tradition during the festive season.
On Sunday night, St James’ Church was filled with people of all ages, from small children to the elderly, who joined together to celebrate the joy and spirit of Christmas.
The night’s program offered an array of musical talent that delighted the crowd.
Malcolm Morrison performed a rendition of It’s Beginning to Sound a Lot Like Christmas, setting a festive tone.
The Community College Choir, under the guidance of Sue Taylor, delivered moving performances of Silent Night and Carol of the Bells, showcasing their harmonious voices.
Adding to the evening’s musical highlights, Sue Taylor and Janette Osborne captivated the audience with a medley of Australian Christmas carols, with Sue playing the flute and Janette accompanying on piano.
Sue’s solo flute performance of Hey Man, Christmas Swings brought a playful touch to the program, while Don Osborne, Ron Hatcher and Darren Downey impressed with their heartfelt rendition of We Three Kings.
The children in the audience gathered on the floor of the church and were particularly engaged during a thoughtful Christmas message delivered by Bev Weir, providing a moment of reflection amid the festivities.
Following the musical performances, the celebration continued in the hall with supper, where attendees shared lively conversation and fellowship.
The atmosphere was one of warmth and community spirit, embodying the essence of the Christmas season.
“It was a happy event enjoyed by everyone, a thank you goes out to all who participated in the event and all those who attended,” Reverend Bevil Lunson said.
