Prepare for Christmas

by
13 December 2024
in Local News

The Orbost Christmas Eve Festival Committee has been meeting regularly for several months now and members are finalising all the arrangements for this year’s festival.

All the regulars will be there – Santa with his icy poles and lollies, facepainting, segways and the fireworks are all locked in and are sure to be as spectacular as always after dark if last year’s display was anything to go by.

Market stall bookings are coming in thick and fast with an array on offer ranging from food, jewellery and clothing.

If you still wish to book a site then contact Sammi at the Snowy River Mail.

Some of the key challenges the committee faced this year revolved around children’s entertainment which has seen new activities on offer for the youngsters including arts and crafts stations, the decoration of gingerbread men and an under five soft play area which are all new to the event.

The committee is small and if anyone wishes to lend a hand on the evening either to set up, pack up or man any of the stalls then get in touch with Sammi at the Snowy River Mail.

LETTERS TO SANTA

A gentle reminder that all letters to be sent off to Santa at The North Pole need to be posted at the red postal box out the front of Andrew’s Land and Surf by this Saturday, December 14.

A letter template is available to collect in-store however, parents need to ensure their child’s full name and address are included for Santa’s helpers to deliver their magical personalised letter in return.

CHRISTMAS LIGHTS MAP

People wishing to be eligible for prizes are urged to have their house decorated before tonight to allow for their address to be added to the map which will appear in the December 18 and 24 editions of the Snowy River Mail.

Members of the public can cast their vote via the newspaper coupon and dropping it into the Snowy River Mail letter box flap or via the QR code which can be found on the map in the newspaper.

This year categories for the Christmas Light competition have been decided which are as follows: Overall, Novice (never won previously), Garden/Fence and Tree.
