Nicholson Street will transform into a festive wonderland tonight for the highly anticipated Orbost Christmas Eve Festival.
The street will be closed to traffic from 5pm, with the main festivities kicking off at 6pm.
The festival promises an evening filled with festive cheer, entertainment and activities for all ages. Market stalls will line the street, offering an array of goods, including fresh berries, clothing and the famous CWA cake stall. Local businesses will keep their doors open late, perfect for any last-minute Christmas shopping.
Foodies will be spoiled for choice with options ranging from sit-down meals at local establishments to street eats. Highlights include a sausage sizzle run by the Orbost Cricket Club, loaded baked potatoes from the Orbost Hockey Club and a variety of food vans offering casual bites.
For the first time, the popular Minute to Win It event will take the form of a ‘Business Challenge’, with six local businesses competing for ultimate bragging rights.
The festival wouldn’t be complete without a visit from Santa Claus, who will make his grand entrance on a firetruck at 7.45pm. Numbered tickets for Santa’s queue can be collected from the Orbost Visitor Information Centre market stall.
Children are in for a treat with a range of activities to keep them entertained. Younger kids can enjoy a soft play toddler area, gingerbread man decorating and arts and crafts, while older kids will love the jumping castles and segway rides.
The evening will culminate with two cherished traditions: Carols by Candlelight and a spectacular fireworks display in Forest Park, ensuring a magical end to the night.
Bring your family and friends, and join the community in celebrating the festive season at this beloved local event.
