Gippsland Bowls Region weekend pennant resumes this week after the Christmas hiatus.
Orbost will make the short trek down the highway to do battle with arch rival, Lakes Entrance 1.
The match also gathering some extra interest with Orbost skip, Bradley Lancaster doing battle with his old outfit for the first time.
Still one of the competition’s premier bowlers, Lancaster tasted ultimate premiership success when playing for Lakes Entrance 1.
Midweek will commence next week on Tuesday, with division two also playing an away game against Lakes Entrance 3.
SOCIAL
Two well attended social bowls afternoons were held last week despite the weather on both days being quite hot.
Thursday’s winning team was Ron Hatcher (skip), Gwen Hatcher, Jurgen Fichtner and Lyn Broersen.
Sunday’s triples winners were Jurgen Fichtner (skip), Darryl Jenkins and Beryl Dyce.
The next social bowls will be tomorrow, with players requested to be at the club no later than 12.30pm, beginners and visitors are welcome.
BAREFOOT/TWILIGHT
Last Friday’s twilight bowls sessions was the best so far this season.
One of the groups attending were celebrating a birthday, making use of the barbecue facilities, staying late to watch a magnificent sunset.
A few members were on hand to help those new to bowling and to organise some games, which worked out well with the birthday girl winning the pot of money.
Twilight bowls will be on again this Friday, so why not come along after 5.30pm and bring the children.
