Weather again interrupted last weeks Gippsland Bowls Region midweek pennant competition, with Orbost splitting the points with Lakes Entrance 2.

The division two fixture saw players called from the greens when the temperature soared over 36 degrees, as insufficient ends had been played to declare a winner, the match points were split evenly between both teams, giving Orbost and Lakes Entrance 2 seven match points each.

This result means that Orbost remains third on their ladder, with one round remaining, a finals campaign looking more than likely.

CLUB CHAMPIONSHIPS

The next Orbost Bowling Club Championship matches will be the men’s and ladies handicap singles, which will be played on February 20 and 27.

Entries will close on the February 18, so members are reminded to make sure you enter your name on the form on the outside noticeboard at the club.

BAREFOOT/TWILIGHT BOWLS

Twilight bowls is drawing to a close, with the last Friday in February being the final session for this season.

The facilities, which include a barbecue and licenced bar are open for bowlers from 5.30pm onwards.
