With recent works on the underfloor ventilation and repairs made to the overhead winching mechanisms now complete, the management committee of Orbost Indoor Stadium (formerly Orbost Community Sports Centre) welcome the positive news that replacement work on the roof and guttering are scheduled to begin in the coming weeks.
These renovations will go a long way to addressing some of the current challenges that local user groups have encountered in times of inclement weather, and will assist in allowing the well-established multi-purpose venue to be even more accessible to Orbost community groups moving forward.
In addition to hosting the ever-growing number of junior members of the Orbost Basketball Association, the stadium has existing provisions for re-establishing sports such as volleyball, badminton and table tennis in the community.
The Stadium Committee is also open to suggestions to accommodating other sports and activities such as indoor soccer, walking netball / basketball, cricket and hockey.
The established gym and meeting room also remain available for hire either as a one-off booking or regular usage.
An Open Day of the facility will be held on Tuesday, March 18 (5.30-6.30pm) for any interested community members to come along, visit the stadium and discuss any ideas for future usage.
The Orbost Indoor Stadium Committee of Management Inc. can be contacted on orbost.stadium@outlook.com
They are also looking for any community members that would like to join the Orbost Indoor Stadium Committee.
If you feel that you have something to contribute towards the management of the stadium facility, please get in touch or come along to the Open Day to have a chat.
