East Gippsland is set to host a Soil Health Day on Friday, March 21, aimed at unlocking key information to support farmers wanting to increase profitability.
Family-owned and operated business NutriSoil is sponsoring its signature event, the Biological Farming Roundtable (BFR), which brings experts in soil health to regional areas across Australia.
Taking place in Perry Bridge, NutriSoil director Nakala Maddock is excited to be hosting the BFR with David and Ruth Read, who manage a 2000-acre cattle trading enterprise.
Based in Wodonga, NutriSoil uses a unique vermiculture recycling system to produce premium worm liquid and worm castings, products that the Reads use as part of their operation.
“We love providing educational opportunities to farmers who want to increase their knowledge on how to use biology to improve soil health and therefore plant, animal, and human health.
“The BFR also provides a way for people to learn more about NutriSoil, the science behind our concentrated vermiwash, and the benefits of using NutriSoil products in next-generational farming,” Mrs Maddock said.
NutriSoil will bring agroecologist David Hardwick from Soil Land Food, who has a wealth of knowledge about the life found in soil structure and how a biologically functioning soil is key to unlocking nutrient cycling.
Far East Victorian Landcare is co-sponsoring the day, which will start with a “Best Soil in Show” competition (a fun way to look at soil structure). There will be plenty of networking opportunities and prizes to be won.
The event is open to anyone; tickets are $50 per person and include morning tea, lunch, and afternoon tea. Tickets can be purchased through the NutriSoil website or by contacting NutriSoil directly on (02) 6020 9679 or via email at marketing@nutrisoil.com.au.
