In a first for Victoria, Mallacoota Inlet Aged Care Inc (MIAC) and the Community Health, Infrastructure and Resilience Fund Inc (CHIRF) have partnered with Trilogy Care, Brisbane based Home Care Package (HCP) provider, to make self-managed HCPs accessible to all eligible community members.
This entity is called Mallacoota Cares.
Up until now, only fully managed HCPs have been available.
Mallacoota Cares’ game-changing initiative means that more elderly people can remain in their homes and in the community even when facing significant health challenges.
They can do this by employing their own carers and having agency over who cares for them and when.
The services Mallacoota Cares will provide, will assist people to access their HCPs, assist with arranging assessments, assist with finding carers and workers and monitor the arrangements.
This is a win-win-win situation, not only will the elderly be able to stay in their homes and be confident in the level and consistency of the care they will receive, but the community will benefit from the many employment opportunities generated.
Mallacoota Cares will officially launch on Friday, March 7 at 10am.
