Local motor bike ace Ollie Short finished the recent opening round of the 2025 Australian Superbike series at Phillip Island battered and bruised, but over the moon with the on-track performance.
Short said the bike has come along way since last year with plenty of positives.
“Things are looking up, we set the fastest lap overall and I was the fastest rider on Dunlop tyres,”
Short said.
Unfortunately it wasn’t all sunshine and rainbows, a mistake from another rider took Short out four laps into Friday’s qualifying round resulting in a torn bicep and twisted bike.
After finishing fourth in race one and fifth in race two, he made contact with another rider down the main straight in race three which sent him full steam into the pit wall.
It could have been a bad outcome but thankfully he walked away from it, focused to be on the podium in the coming rounds, knowing that with some luck, he can match his competitors for speed.
Round two of the 2025 Australian Superbike series will be contested at Sydney Motorsport Park on March 28-29.
The eight-round series will culminate at The Bend in South Australia on November 7-9.
