Marlo development stalled

There’s a cloud over the future of a residential development at Marlo after East Gippsland Shire Council decided not to endorse the project as recommended by town planning just yet.
The 104-allotment proposed subdivision at 10 Marlo Road has attracted a barrage of criticism from members of the Marlo Ratepayers and Residents’ Association since it was proposed.
While the Association (MRRA) isn’t necessarily opposed to development of the site, the main sticking points relate to the urban density, namely the small size of the allotments and the minimal provision of open space.
At last week’s council meeting, councillors voted to defer debate to allow for further negotiation and for the proponent to make modifications to the development plan subject to community consultation.
A number of residents opposed to the existing development plans before the council spoke at ast week’s meeting.
