Winter Festival takes over

Winter Festival takes over

Despite raining all day on Saturday, the Orbost community came out in force to "Light up Orbost" on the final weekend of the 2022 East Gippsland Winter Festival.
Hundreds of people took part in the lantern parade along Nicholson Street at 5.30pm with beautiful handmade lanterns of different shapes, sizes and styles.
The event had to be slightly modified to allow for the wet weather, beginning at Home Hardware instead of Forest Park.
The town was adorned with dozens of art and lighting installations including yarnbombed tress down by Forest Park, fairy gardens and tea parties amongst the main street gardens and lighting projections on to buildings.
Local musicians Today's Menu, Sean McGuiness and Fergus Hunt provided the tunes, while Nicholson Street eateries served up a selection of special winter-warming dishes.
