Orbost Caravan Park will reopen on Friday, September 1, after East Gippsland Shire Council secured a new operator for the tourist facility.
“A local caravan park business that has an existing agreement with council for the Marlo Oceans View Caravan Park signed a service agreement to manage the park on behalf of council until June 2024,” council’s general manager assets and environment, Fiona Weigall, said.
“The caravan park had been under lease for the last 21 years. This agreement was due to expire in November 2023.
“During the quieter winter period, the park was closed for maintenance. The lease holders requested to end their lease in early June, to which council agreed.”
Orbost Chamber of Commerce president, Samantha Reynolds, said it is a great outcome for the local community.
